The past December 13, 2024in the framework of the election campaign, Polis – Academy Training Policyin partnership with the University Institute San Isidroheld a new meeting of its series Connecting rod with Purposeagain , this time with the participation of the candidate assemblyman Niels Olsen.
The event brought together more than 100 attendeesamong them students of the Instituto San Isidro, members of the Polis, representatives from allied organizations, the authorities of Azuay and citizenship interested in learning about the proposals of those who seek to reach the National Assembly. In a relaxed but deep political content, Connecting rod with Purpose he returned to establish itself as a space of listening and dialogue with those who aspire to public office.
The day was structured in three thematic panelsmoderated by our Director General, Jeremias Tama, and counted with the participation of young leaders as Juan Javier Domínguez, Belén García, Jorge Amaya, Gabriela Jaramillo, Andres Coronel Felipe Palacios and Christian Heras. Each panel focused on one of the following topics:
🔐 Safety: Structural challenges, a preventive approach, justice and territorial control.
🌍 Tourism: Local potential, sustainability, opportunities for youth and employability.
🏛️ Decentralization: Strengthening of local power, efficiency in public spending and territorial representation.
Through direct questions and reflective, the panelists were able to generate an open discussion with the candidate, who listened with attention and exchanged ideas with the participants. This exercise reaffirmed the spirit of Connecting rod with Purpose: to build bridges between the youth and the institutional politics from the deliberation critical.

With this meeting, Polis continues to democratise the access to political thoughtto create spaces where the young citizenship can listen to and challenge those who aspire to represent it. Because just listening, contrasting and participating, we can strengthen democracy from their bases.
